Tripartite Committee Headed by Dagalo Meets With the US Assistant Secretary of State

Prior to the Launch of Direct Dialogue Between the Sudanese Parties

Khartoum 06/07/2022 – The Tripartite Military Committee, headed by the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and the membership of the two members of the Council, Lieutenant-General Shams Al-Din Kabbashi Ibrahim, and Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, met at the Republican Palace today, the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Ambassador, Molly Fee, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Sudan, Ambassador Ali bin Hassan bin Jaafar.

The meeting discussed the latest arrangements for the direct Sudanese dialogue process, which is facilitated by the tripartite mechanism that includes the United Nations, the African Union, and the IGAD, which is scheduled to start tomorrow, Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Tripartite Military Committee affirmed its full support for the efforts of the tripartite facilitating mechanism for dialogue between the Sudanese parties and working to make it a success.

In a press statement, Ambassador Kamal Bashir, Director of the North American Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the meeting secured support for the work of the tripartite facilitating mechanism for Sudanese dialogue in promoting rapprochement between the Sudanese parties to make the transitional period success, and to reach a consensus leading to the formation of a civilian government.

The ambassador added that the meeting, which he described as important, touched on several details related to the launch of direct dialogue between the Sudanese national parties.
