TSC Member, Lt-Gen Bahri Ibrahim Jaber, Chairs Supreme National Committee for Dealing with the United Nations Meeting

Khartoum – 09/06/2022 — Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Bahri Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, chaired today at the Republican Palace the meeting of the Supreme National Committee for Dealing with the United Nations. The meeting reviewed several issues, the foremost of which is the renewal of the extension of the “UNITAMS” mission.

Ambassador Nader Youssef Al-Tayeb, the rapporteur of the Supreme Committee, said in a press statement that the Executive Committee submitted a detailed report on the extension process and the efforts made by the Supreme Committee and the Executive Committee in this regard, which led to the extension according to the perception presented by the Committee, indicating that the meeting deliberated about the report of an expert visit. Resolution 1591, which was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, noted that the committee concluded that the report should be completed to be approved during the next meeting.

The Rapporteur of the Supreme Committee added that the meeting dealt with the report of the Independent Expert Program for Human Rights, which was presented by the Minister of Justice, and listened to enlightenment from the Minister of Interior in charge of the mechanism for protecting civilians.

Ambassador Nader Youssef said that the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafallah Al-Hajj Ali, will take over, as of the next meeting, the rapporteur of the Supreme Committee and the presidency of the Executive Committee for dealing with the United Nations.
