
Dagalo Meets UNITAMS Mission Head in Al-Geneina

Al-Geneina 02/7/2022 – The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, held a meeting with the head of the United Nations Integrated Mission (UNITAMS), Mr. Volker Perthes, in the presence of members of the Sovereign Council, Al-Taher Hajar, and Al-Hadi Idris, the Wali of West Darfur State, Khamis Abdullah Abkar, and a number of United Nations agencies.
The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, gave the delegation a detailed explanation of their efforts in the process of conducting tribal reconciliations, imposing the prestige of the state, and the ongoing efforts how to return the displaced who are now in state institutions to their camps and then work to find a way to return to their villages The original state, as well as the state’s interest and keenness to establish security and protection for all citizens, and to provide security to protect the agricultural season. He stressed, referring to the visits made by the delegation to the areas of Jebel Moon, Sirba, and Krindaq camp, and the need for those communities for humanitarian support, appealing to the United Nations and its agencies to intervene to help the displaced.

In turn, the Head of the United Nations Mission (UNITAMS), Mr. Volker Perthes, praised the reconciliations achieved by the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and members of the Council, Tahir Hajar and Hadi Idris, among the tribal components in West Darfur, calling on the reconciled societies to cooperate among themselves and to help establish security and work towards achieving peace and creating sustainable solutions that maintain stability.
Volker Perthes confirmed that the United Nations and United Nations agencies would study the West Darfur state plan on the return of the displaced and the challenges facing this matter, aiming to contribute and assist their return through sustainable solutions.
Perthes, who visited West Darfur today with a delegation of United Nations agencies, said in press statements, “We came today to the city of El Geneina to express our interest in Darfur in full and in West Darfur in particular,” noting that this visit was planned during the state’s visit to their office in Khartoum. Flucker said, “We took advantage of the visit of the members of the Sovereign Council, led by the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo to the state of Gharb, to talk about security, economic, humanitarian, and social challenges. The United Nations and United Nations programs aim to contribute and assist in the return of the displaced and finding sustainable solutions, but currently, the United Nations will contribute to the agricultural season process.

Volcker said we commend the reconciliations that took place in recent days between Arab and non-Arab tribes, and considered that all those who reconciled are Sudanese, and we call on them to cooperate, to provide security not only in the autumn season but in a sustainable way for the benefit of this state and the Sudanese peoples.
Volcker confirmed that during their visit, they will hear statements from representatives of the Darfurian community, the indigenous administrations, the Masalit, Arabs, and the displaced, especially the people of Kerenc, and he said we hope that the members of the Sovereignty Council will succeed in performing their tasks, and we also thank the governor for the hospitality.
