
Workshop on National Report on Spending on Education launched
In signalling its support for Education for All ( EFA ), the Government of Sudan (GOS) has recognised education as a right for all of its citizens and guarantees access to free basic education. Furthermore, the GOS considers the realisation of EFA in the country as completely commensurate with the achievement of socio-economic stability.
Federal Minister of Education, Mahmoud Seralkham Al-Houri, stressed the importance of approving the education budget through the workshop organized by the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All in partnership with the Arab Campaign for Education for All in Mr. Mubarak Yahya Hall at the National Commission for UNESCO.
He pointed to the suffering of countries to achieve the slogan of Education for All as a result of the economic and political conditions that the country is going through, and valued the efforts of the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, civil society organizations and UNICEF in supporting the educational process.
President of the Global Campaign for Education for All and Secretary-General of the Arab Campaign for Education,Dr. Refaat Al-Sabah called for the formation of a network of institutions, unions, ministries and coalitions to lead a global campaign to drop the debt on Sudan in favor of financing education and health.
His Excellency referred to the holding of an Arab feminist educational forum and a policy dialogue forum on financing education for Arab ministers of education, saying that this forum will bring together civil society, experts and ministers with the aim of thinking about solving the crises and problems facing education in the Arab region.
The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is a civil society movement that aims to end exclusion in education. Education is a basic human right, and our mission is to make sure that governments act now to deliver the right of everyone to a free, quality, public education.
The Director General of the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, Mr. Nagi Mansour Al-Shafei, said that this workshop referred to the ministries of education with the participation of the state ministries of education, the Federal Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the National Center for Statistics and a number of experts in the field of education economics and budget analysis.
Director of the General Department of Strategy at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Amani Al-Khatib appealed the Federal Minister of Education, to study the report carefully, as it is considered the way out for the development and reconstruction of education in Khartoum State in general and the basic stage in particular.
She also said that the budget of the basic stage in Khartoum State must be followed to the Federal Ministry of Education or the governor of the state by a presidential decision.
